AKMYR AHMAD AZWAN
Qualifications:
AKMYR AHMAD AZWAN is the Principal Lawyer of Messrs. AKMYR. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and possesses several professional qualifications, including:
- International Diploma in Governance, Risk & Compliance – International Compliance Association;
- Advanced Certification in Regulatory Compliance – Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers; and
- Module 11: Fundamentals of Compliance – Securities Industry Development Corporation
He was the sole recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for the Faculty of Law, for earning the Dean’s List Award for ten consecutive semesters. He was also recognized as one of the Top 10 Best UiTM Students in Malaysia, receiving the UiTM Alumni Excellence Award for academic excellence.
In 2017, he was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, after completing his pupillage at Messrs. Zul Rafique & Partners. He now practices law through Messrs. AKMYR, a purpose-driven legal firm in Kuala Lumpur, which he founded in 2023.
Previously, he was a certified compliance professional, having served in various roles across financial institutions including a foreign bank, development financial institutions (DFIs), a financial guarantee insurer, and an investment bank. His last position was Assistant Vice President / Unit Head at a well-established foreign bank in Kuala Lumpur.
He has also appeared as a guest panelist on legal and business programs and has been featured in several publications, most notably:
- “Successful People in Malaysia”, 5th Edition (2023); and
- “Successful People in Malaysia and Singapore”, 6th Edition (2024).
